My Experience Using Befrugal.com

There are a lot of cashback portals out there.  A couple of my favorites are Topcashback and Bigcrumbs.  I’ve had good experiences with both of them.  Topcashback has frequently had 3% rebates on American Express gift cards, and I’ve taken advantage of it.

More recently, a new site (at least to me), called Befrugal had a 3% cashback on American Express gift cards.  At the time, the other sites were not offering as much.

I wasn’t sure if it was legit.  After doing some minimal research, I decided to give it a try.  After creating an account, I decided to purchase $5k of Amex gift cards.

I nice thing I liked about the site was that when you click through to the merchant site, Befrugal creates a “click through ID” which basically confirms that your click was tracked.  You get a visual confirmation of this ID.  So, you can be pretty sure that your transaction will post.

A couple of hours after I placed the order, I checked to see if it had posted and sure enough, I saw what I was looking for:

Similar to topcashback, it looks like it takes a while for the transaction to be payable.  I still have a while before I see the 3% cashback in my hand, but it’s nice to see what you want to see.

I know with other portals, such as the Barclays RewardsBoost portal, it can take weeks to see the transaction which certainly causes some anxiety.  Befrugal is much better in that regard, as you can see it in just a few hours.

This is just another venue to get cashback on American Express gift cards.  Although I had been using topcashback for amex gift cards, I had read that if you order too many Amex gift cards through them, they may shut down your account (HT: Milesabound)

Hopefully, Befrugal will continue offering cashback for Amex gift cards.  I haven’t researched their payouts for anything else yet.  I would say they seem to be a legitimate site and you can use them with confidence.
