In the game of manufactured spend, walmart gift cards were pretty good cards to buy and then liquidate for some free miles. One example of doing this was earning Aeroplan miles by purchasing the gift cards on Ebay.
The idea was to buy the Walmart gift cards, use them to buy $200 Visa gift cards on Walmart.com, load those Visa gift cards to your bluebird account at Walmart, and then pay your bills with the bluebird account.
However, it looks like this plan will not work any more as the corporate giant is no longer allowing the purchase of Visa gift cards online with a Walmart gift card. This is definitely new as I do not remember seeing this before.
