There has been much discussion about the United MileagePlus Explorer Personal Card, but there isn’t much talk about the Business version of the card. Not many people know that there is a business version of the card and that the benefits are mostly the same as the personal card.
There is currently an offer for the Business version of the card for 50,000 bonus United miles after $2000 spend in 3 months and 10,000 bonus miles every calendar year you spend at least $25,000 on your card. There is no annual fee 1st year, but $95 thereafter.
This offer is similar to the “65000 mile” targeted bonus offer for the personal card that gives 50,000 bonus United miles after $1k spend in 3 months, 5000 miles for adding an authorized user, and 10,000 bonus miles every calender year you spend at least $25,000 on your card. So, in essence, it is a 55,000 mile bonus offer since spending $25K to get 10,000 miles is not really worth it. There is no annual fee 1st year, but $95 thereafter.
The normal signup bonus for the personal and business card is 30,000 bonus miles after $1000 spend in 3 months.
It seems that to get the offer for the 50,000 mile business card offer, you have to be targeted for the 55,000 mile personal card offer. What I did to see these offers:
1. I started at this link which leads to a login screen with my United Mileage Plus account and password. I went ahead and logged in.
2. After logging in, I was able to see the personal offer with 50,000 bonus miles.
2. Then, I clicked on “Are you a business owner?” in the top right corner. That led me to see the better offer for the business card.
The benefits of the United MileagePlus Explorer Business Card
I think the best benefits of the card are the two United Club passes ever year (worth about $50), the recently added no foreign transaction fees, and a free checked bag for the cardholder and their companion on the same itinerary. In addition, according to Milevalue, the United MileagePlus Explorer card may have an undisclosed benefit of better award availability on the United website.
I can assure than everyone will not see the better offer. Some will see the 30,000 mile offer. However, it seems that those who have a mileage balance in their United account seem to have better success. If your mileage balance is zero, consider transferring some miles from Ultimate Rewards. You also may not see the targeted offer if you have had the card in the past. Also, consider clearing the cookies from your browser.
Finally, this business card offer presents a nice additional option along with the other Chase business cards such as the Ink Bold or the Ink Plus which give 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points after $5,000 spend in 3 months. Also, one could apply for both the personal and business version of United MileagePlus Explorer for a total of 100,000 United miles. That is if you are targeted of course.
I would love to find out what people are seeing when they go through the link I gave above. Are you seeing the normal offer of 30,000 miles or the targeted offer of 50,000 bonus miles?
After clicking the link and logging in, I dont get any offer. It just says get the most from your current Explorer card. I think because I already have the personal one it wont let me see the business offer
My guess is that these offers are for people that have never had the explorer card.
I only get a 30000 mile offer. not worth the trouble.
