There is a current promotion through the Aeroplan Estore that lets you get 5x Aeroplan miles on all purchases through the portal until June 2nd.
This actually has bigger implications than you think, because Ebay is a merchant in the portal. Since Ebay sells anything and everything including gift cards, you can get 5x Aeroplan miles for anything you buy on Ebay. This deal is even better if you use Ebay gift cards for payment. You should buy the Ebay gift cards where you can get a category bonus using your credit card.

Here are the steps to earning Aeroplan miles for Ebay purchases:
- Make sure you have an Aeroplan account. If you don’t, you can signup here.
- Clear all the cookies from your computer to ensure your visit to Ebay is tracked appropriately.
- Go to the Aeroplan Estore and login
- Find and click on Ebay
- Click on “Shop Now”
- Notice that you will be taken to the Ebay Canada site. However, it does not matter whether its the Canadian or USA site. You can still buy any item from anywhere in the world.
- Use the “Buy It Now” button on Ebay to buy your item
- Pay for your item using the Ebay gift cards you bought at the grocery store using Paypal
Keep in mind that 5x Aeroplan miles means 4.2x US Airways miles, so this is an excellent promotion. It’s time limited, so take advantage while you can.
Cautions and notes:
- Buying gift cards through Ebay is a risk. Do so at your own judgment.
- Another risk is Aeroplan miles not posting appropriately to your account.
- Shopping through the Aeroplan portal is best with “Buy It Now” Ebay items only
- Since Ebay gift cards come in small denominations, you will need multiple gift cards when you checkout for your purchase.

@Duc – It usually takes 6-8 weeks for the miles to post. In my experience, that is pretty accurate. I have never had problems with miles posting. Apparently, “Use of an eBay gift card provides no warranty or protection on an item or items purchased on eBay.” I didn’t know that, but found it here.
