Getting even more out of Priceline

I’ve frequently used Priceline to bid on hotels and cars and I’ve never been disappointed.  I’ve always gotten excellent hotels and cars for way cheaper than retail.  I just wish I had bought Priceline stock a few years back.  In my opinion, you truly are getting a great deal when you win a bid on Priceline.  If you frequently use Priceline to “Name Your Own Price,” then you can benefit more from the Barclays Priceline Rewards Visa.

The Priceline Visa offers 5x points (5% cash back) on eligible “Name Your Own Price” purchases and 2x points (2% cash back) on everything else.  You can redeem the points for statement credits for any purchase greater than $25.  For example, 4000 points can be redeemed to offset a $40 purchase.  The best feature is that there is no annual fee, so if you get it, there is no reason to ever close it.  It also comes with 5000 point bonus ($50 credit) after your 1st purchase.  This cash back card is one of Barclays’ better cards.

Compound your Priceline Visa 5% discount with Shopping Portals

Topcashback  (not an affiliate link) currently offers 3% back for “Name Your Own Price Bookings” on Priceline.  If you go through Topcashback and use your Priceline Visa, you are getting 8% off an already great deal.

Bigcrumbs.com (not an affiliate link) currently offers 2.1% back for “Name Your Own Price” on Priceline.  Going through that portal gives you an effective 7.1% back if you pay with the Visa.

Chase Ultimate Rewards offers only 1x points for Priceline purchases.  Since you don’t need to checkout with a Chase card to get points, you could still use the Priceline Visa.  So, you get 5% back + 1 UR point.

Of course, if you don’t care for the headache of going through a shopping portal only to end up with a losing bid, then just book through Biddingtraveler.com to save a lot of time.   That is one of my favorite tools to use.  You would still get the 5% with your Visa.

Keep in mind that only “Name Your Price Bookings” are eligible for the 5% back on the Priceline Visa.  If you shop through Priceline and book hotels or cards without bidding, you will not get the 5% back.
